Is dental x-ray safe?

A dental X-ray, or dental X-ray, is a basic examination performed for the purposes of diagnosis and planning of dental treatment. A dental X-ray shows various details that the dentist is not able to see during a standard dental examination. In addition to the teeth, the tissues, jaw bones and temporomandibular joint are visualised. This is why an X-ray very often proves necessary for other measures. Is the examination safe?

Patient safety during dental X-ray examination

It should be emphasised that the study Dental X-ray is completely painless for the patient and causes no discomfort. It is a non-invasive and completely safe method.  Patients sometimes wonder about the possible negative effects of the radiation emitted during the examination. During dental X-rays X-rays are used in minimum doseswhich have no adverse effects on the functioning of the body. During an X-ray examination of a single tooth, the radiation dose to the body is approximately 5 µSv. For comparison, every day in Poland each of us takes in a dose of around 7 µSv from natural sources, and a flight on holiday, e.g. to Tenerife, is around 40 µSv. It is worth adding that all precautions are taken during the X-ray examination - shielding or an apron made of radiation-impermeable materials. The amount of radiation entering the body during a single examination is really negligible. Larger doses of radiation are generated by everyday objects, such as a monitor or telephone.

The entire procedure is performed with all the necessary safeguards, so dental patients should have nothing to fear. Prior to referral for an X-ray examination, the dentist always interviews the patient about their health.
