We deal with removal of eights. We carry out painless surgical procedures using state-of-the-art dental technology. The actual extraction of wisdom teeth is always preceded by anaesthesia of the tooth and gingival tissues, so that the process is not associated with pain and the patient's discomfort is reduced to an absolute minimum.
In our practice, we remove both eights and other teeth, in addition to implanting dental implantswhich is sometimes recommended just after extraction.
Is it necessary to remove the eights?
Eights are the molars erupting last in the dental arch. They do not play an important role in terms of biting and chewing because nowadays, unlike in the past, people mostly consume processed foods. Therefore extraction of wisdom teeth does not reduce the functionality of the oral cavity. It should be noted, however, that unless there are clear reasons for doing so, extraction is not considered necessary.
Main indications for removal of eights is instead:
- inflammation in the wisdom teeth,
- complaints of pain in the area of the eights,
- location of the eighths that prevents their proper cleaning (high risk of caries development),
- retained wisdom teeth,
- Eighths that do not fit into the dental arch and put pressure on the remaining teeth,
- wisdom teeth erupting in the wrong direction,
- planned orthodontic treatment.
Removal of abnormally erupting or retained eights avoids serious problems such as the development of inflammation, malocclusion, crowding and displacement of remaining teeth, recurrent headaches and temporomandibular pain, among others.
